Dr. Paul Cotterill, DVM, Practice Owner
After obtaining his bachelors in Animal Science at Kansas State, Dr. Cotterill graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. After graduating, he came back to the area and began working as a mixed animal practitioner. He has owned and operated Cherryvale Veterinary Clinic, LLC since 1996.
Dr. Cotterill is a long-time resident of Southeast Kansas. The Cotterill family owns and operates a ranch near Cherryvale. The ranch was established the day before Dr. Cotterill was born (It has been suggested that the move hastened his birth). Dr. Cotterill has special interest in animal chiropractic and acupuncture therapies for both large and small animals. He has been certified through the Options for Animals Chiropractic College since 2007, and is currently an examiner for IVCA (International Veterinary Chiropractic Association). His hobbies include many outdoor activities; hunting / shooting sports; and horses (reining, working cow horses, and roping). Tyler, his son is a student at Kansas State and helps out around the practice frequently. Dr. Cotterill has several horses, and two blue healers named Penny and Rue.
Dr. Hailey Mueller, DVM, Veterinarian
Dr. Mueller grew up in Overbrook, KS where she was actively involved in 4-H at the local and state level. After graduating from Santa Fe Trail High School, Dr. Mueller attended Kansas State University for her undergraduate studies. She obtained her Bachelors in Animal Science, with minors in Entrepreneurship and Biology in May 2014.
Following her acceptance into veterinary school at Kansas State University, Dr. Mueller obtained a variety of experiences. While in veterinary school, she worked in the Intensive Care Unit as a Large Animal and Equine Technician and also completed a mentorship in Abilene, Kansas at Symbioun Inc. (a specialty canine reproduction practice). Following the didactic portion of veterinary school, Dr. Mueller completed clinical externships in small animal oncology (cancer) at Nashville Veterinary Specialists in Tennessee, and in calving at a mixed animal practice in Parker, South Dakota. She has special interests in orthopedics, ultrasound imaging, cancer diagnosis/treatment, and medicine cases. In her free time Dr. Mueller enjoys fishing; running; traveling; and a variety of shooting sports. She is married to Kris Mueller, a 2013 graduate of Kansas State University. Together, they have dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks, sugar gliders, and an African grey parrot.
Brenda McNickle, Office Manager
Brenda is the office manager at CVC and has been one of the longest standing members of the team at over 15 years. She has a very broad background in animal experience from small animals to exotics. Many people already know Brenda and her family from as they are heavily involved in the community.
Brenda and her husband, Gary, also devote a great deal of their personal time and finances to local youth programs. They played an active role as founders and leaders for the Pumpkin Creek 4-H Club. In addition, the McNickle family raises and sells Boer goats, show sheep and cattle. Their son Dillon is involved in the family farm as well and has had a vast amount of success showing their livestock. Dillon is now in college pursuing a career in physical therapy and has interest in sports education as well. Brenda also has a business background, this combined with her knowledge of both small and large animals provides our clientele with a seldom matched amount of service and knowledge. Brenda is the absolute center of operations at CVC, and her personal attention to clients’ needs is rarely matched. We feel very fortunate to have Brenda as a staff member and the practice manager.
Tyler Cotterill, Veterinary Assistant
Tyler (Dr. Cotterills son) grew up and completed all of his schooling here in Cherryvale. He completed some college courses after graduating high school a semester early and recently began classes at Kansas State Majoring in Biology. Tyler plans to go into the human medical field after getting his bachelors. He enjoys hunting; shooting sports; roping; reining horses; and bow fishing. Tyler helps on many emergency calls, is often the anesthetist in emergency surgeries, and helps with general upkeep around the practice. Tyler is one of the longest “staff members” of the clinic.
Hydee Turner, Veterinary Assistant
Hydee went to Independence Community College Veterinary Technician program and graduated in May 2018. She will be taking her boards exam this spring to become a licensed veterinary technician. After completing an externship at our clinic, she started working full time for CVC after graduating. She comes from a small animal background but is quickly learning the ins and outs of large animal practice. Hydee has several cats and a dog that she enjoys spending time with. In her spare time, she enjoys reading; anything Harry Potter; and spending with her friends and boyfriend. Hydee has a fun quarky personality and is the resident “cat lady” who takes a fancying to our feline patients.
Devyn Glaspie, Veterinary Assistant
Devyn was born and raised in Mound Valley before attending Independence Community College for the Veterinary Technician program. Devyn began working at CVC in 2016 and currently lives in Thayer. She has experience in both small and large animals. Devyn is a veterinary assistant but also helps in many of he day to day business operations. Devyn and her boyfriend have horses as well as dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, fishing; horseback riding; and reading. Devyn has wide range of experience and can jump in to offer a helping hand in any situation while anticipating needs.
Christy Medlock, Veterinary Assistant
Christi was born, raised, and complete school in Cherryvale. She now lives with her husband, Brad, just outside of Independence. They have four grown children Dani, Chad, Aaron, and Alec. They also have one grandson, Joshua. Along with summers at the lake relaxing and doing watersports on the family boat Christi enjoys, spending time with her family. At home Christi has two dogs, and two horses. Christi and Brad enjoy trail riding and have participated in rides at Big Hill Lake as well as Woolaroc. Christi is always a smiling face and is happy to help our clients in any way she can.
